The PhD program in Physics at the University of Trieste is coordinated by a Faculty Board comprising professors from the Department of Physics, as well as representatives from prominent research institutions in the area of Trieste, including INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), INAF (National Institute for Astrophysics), Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, and ICTP (International Centre for Theoretical Physics).
The PhD Faculty Board is responsible for programmatic duties and oversees both the academic and research activities of the Course. It establishes the educational objectives and research areas, approves each doctoral student's individual training project, evaluates on an annual basis the activities carried out by doctoral students, and decides regarding admission to the following year and the admission to the thesis evaluation for the purpose of obtaining the degree.
An Advisory Board featuring external experts has been recently established, convened annually with the purpose of evaluating the quality of the PhD program in Physics at Trieste and offering recommendations for its further enhancement.
In addition, a Quality Assurance (QA) group, consisting of members from the Faculty Board and PhD students, has been instituted to ensure ongoing internal oversight and continuous improvement of the program.
